5 PERGUNTAS PARA HENRIQUE AMUD, CODIRETOR DE "ATORDOADO, EU PERMANEÇO ATENTO”

The film was born from Lucas H. Rossi dos Santos's desire to make a film about the story of journalist and human rights activist Dermi Azevedo, because he had known the tragic story of Dermi and his son Cacá since his father told him when he was a child. It was a film he believed necessary to exist, regardless of who was going to direct. When the 2018 Brazilian presidential elections came to an end with a pitiful result, we understood that we could no longer postpone this project. That was the motivation to get in touch with Dermi and his family to film an interview in São Paulo.

Abigail
by Valentina Homem and Isabel Penoni (2016, 17min, PE)
Viewer's Discretion  - FREE

Sinopsis: Abigail connects the dots of a human map that links the indigenous Amazon cultures to Afro-Brazilian religions. The reverse of the inverse, a house of nearly extinct memories.
JUSTIFICATION

"Abigail" is a film that understands very well how to evoke the power of memories that are about to fade and amplify it through a raw and mysterious filmic atmosphere. Valentina Homem and Isabel Penoni's amazing film uses the memories and the house of Abigail Lopes, former indigenist and mae-de-santo, as well as impressive archive images of the expeditions that made the first contacts with the Xavantes people, to compose a work on identity, the feminine, religion, and repentance, themes that will never cease to be important and are necessary in the creation of our national cinematography, even more in the face of the increasingly cruel reality that we live. "Abigail" premiered at Cannes and was already screened at CEN in 2016, but it is a film that surprises us every time it is screened, therefore we believe that it must be invited again, to screen it along "Atordoado, Eu Permaneço Atento".
